Located at 252 W 116 Street, our Community Kitchen & Food Pantry of West Harlem has offered New Yorkers in need direct food service since 1984. Our full-service soup kitchen and food pantry help provide close to 520,000 free meals last year. In addition, the Community Kitchen runs an herb and vegetable garden — made possible through the support of BNP Paribas — and providesthe space for our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program.
In an effort to help New Yorkers in need gain their self-sufficiency, the Food Bank offers on-site income support including our Tax Assistance and Food Stamp Programs, facilitated health care enrollment and financial counseling as well as rent, mortgage and utility services.
Our choice-style food pantry allows low-income New Yorkers to select fresh produce and packaged food items themselves in a supermarket-style setting — helping provide food for more than 22,700 meals a month.
